Surendra Kumar Jain, the national joint general secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), announced a nationwide initiative aimed at preventing religious conversions through coercion or fraud. The VHP plans to propose a 'Model Anti-Conversion Law' and will engage with Chief Ministers across India to discuss this initiative. Jain expressed concerns regarding the Telangana government's proposed Hate Speech Bill, suggesting it could be misused to target Hindu voices. He warned that the VHP would initiate a statewide agitation if the legislation is implemented unfairly. Additionally, Jain criticized the ineffective enforcement of the 1977 Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act in Telangana, stating that no convictions have occurred under the law in the past fifty years. The VHP intends to form a legal cell to recommend amendments for stricter enforcement of this law. Jain also condemned perceived anti-Hindu rhetoric from political leaders and called for temples to be managed by the Hindu community rather than the government, emphasizing that temple revenues should support Hindu cultural activities.
