On Friday, leaders and workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. They objected to his allegations that the BJP was responsible for the twin blasts that occurred on May 5 in Jalandhar and Amritsar. The protesters submitted a written complaint to Jalandhar's police commissioner, Dhanpreet Kaur Randhawa, calling for a First Information Report (FIR) against Mann for his remarks, which they deemed false and defamatory. Manoranjan Kalia, a national executive member of the BJP, stated that Mann's comments promote public mischief and compromise the state's security. He accused Mann of misleading investigative agencies and diverting attention from the actual perpetrators of the blasts. Kalia also pointed out discrepancies between Mann's statements and those of the Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, suggesting that Mann did not consult the police chief before making his claims. Following this protest, similar demonstrations are planned in Amritsar and Ludhiana.
