A Delhi Police constable has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a ₹50.37 lakh robbery that took place on March 31 near Azad Market Chowk in north Delhi. The constable, who is 38 years old and has three prior criminal cases, reportedly played a significant role in planning the robbery and received a portion of the stolen cash. The incident involved two assailants on a motorcycle who assaulted the victims transporting the cash in an autorickshaw. Following the robbery, police tracked down the suspects using CCTV footage and facial recognition technology, leading to multiple arrests and the recovery of ₹12 lakh. The constable, who joined the force in 2009, is currently facing dismissal proceedings as the police department seeks to address his criminal background, which includes charges of kidnapping for ransom and armed robbery.
