The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has instructed Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL) to construct a flood protection bund around the 400 kV power substation in Daultabad, Haryana, India. This measure aims to prevent waterlogging that previously disrupted power supply during monsoons.
- 01GMDA has requested the construction of a ring bund around the Daultabad power substation.
- 02The substation is crucial for power supply to Gurugram and the Basai water treatment plant.
- 03Last year's monsoons caused severe waterlogging, requiring heavy pumps for mitigation.
- 04The bund must withstand the 100-year high flood level of the Najafgarh catchment area.
- 05HVPNL claims stormwater management is GMDA's responsibility.

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has directed Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL) to construct a ring bund around the 400 kV power substation in Daultabad, Haryana, to prevent flooding. This substation is vital for supplying electricity to various residential sectors along the Dwarka Expressway and parts of old Gurugram, as well as to the Basai water treatment plant, which provides 270 million liters per day (MLD) of water to the city. Last year, severe waterlogging at the substation during the monsoon season necessitated the deployment of heavy pumps to manage the situation. In a letter dated April 22, Sanjeev Mann, chief town planner at GMDA, emphasized the need for a permanent bund designed to withstand the 100-year high flood level of the Najafgarh catchment area. He also mentioned plans for advanced waterproofing and high-capacity dewatering pumps to mitigate groundwater seepage. However, HVPNL's executive engineer, Hans Raj, stated that stormwater management falls under GMDA's purview, expressing concerns about the short notice given the impending monsoon season.
