In Uttarakhand, police have registered four first information reports (FIRs) regarding misinformation and vandalism during the ongoing Kedarnath yatra. The pilgrimage commenced with the opening of the portals of Yamunotri, Gangotri, and Kedarnath Dham on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya. In the initial two days, 63,252 pilgrims visited the Kedarnath shrine. Authorities, including Rudraprayag superintendent of police (SP) Neeharika Tomar, have identified individuals spreading misleading information via social media, which could negatively impact the pilgrimage experience. As part of their efforts, police have initiated action against those sharing false content. Additionally, an FIR has been filed concerning vandalism, where unidentified individuals damaged public toilets and other facilities in the shrine area. District magistrate Vishal Mishra and other officials inspected the facilities to ensure that essential arrangements, including sanitation and security, are in place for the pilgrims.
