An 11-year-old boy named Divyansh Dwivedi, also known as Deepu, was found dead with multiple injury marks at a residential gurukul in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. He had been admitted to the Ramanuj Bhagwat Ved Vidyapeeth Gurukul for free Vedic education on April 15. Family members were informed that he had fallen from a staircase, but they alleged he was subjected to brutal physical abuse. The boy's body was abandoned near his home in Maharajpur by an associate of the gurukul before the family could arrive. Police reported that the boy had dozens of injury marks, with some resembling burn wounds, suggesting he had been tortured. The main accused, Saurabh Mishra, 27, and his associate Harshita Soni, 23, were arrested on charges of murder and destruction of evidence. During questioning, Mishra admitted to beating the child and confining him in a poorly ventilated room. The incident has led to protests in the victim's village, with demands for justice and compensation. Following a visit from Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, the situation eased, and the cremation was conducted. The police continue to investigate the case.
