Gurugram, located in Haryana, India, is preparing to test 380 automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) traffic surveillance cameras across four high-traffic corridors within the next three weeks. This initiative is part of the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) and aims to enhance law enforcement efficiency and reduce traffic violations. The cameras will be installed at 23 junctions covering a total distance of 40 kilometers, including major roads such as Golf Course Road, MG Road, and Old Delhi Road. Each camera is equipped to monitor various violations, including overspeeding, red-light infractions, and illegal parking. The installation is a collaborative effort between the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), local police, and Maruti Suzuki India, which signed a memorandum of agreement in March 2025 to facilitate this project. Currently, around 1,200 cameras are operational across 218 junctions in Gurugram and Manesar under the first phase of the surveillance initiative.
