The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) announced that the construction of a new 100 MLD water treatment plant in Chandu Budhera will be completed by the end of May, increasing the city's total water supply capacity from 670 MLD to 770 MLD. This expansion is crucial to meet the heightened demand expected during the peak summer months. Currently, GMDA supplies water through two treatment plants located at Basai and Chandu Budhera, with the latter contributing 470 MLD. The new plant is expected to start operations in June, with a focus on enhancing supply to tail-end sectors that often face shortages. Additionally, the GMDA has completed work on a missing water pipeline under the Dwarka Expressway, which will support the Sector 72 boosting station, further improving water distribution in sectors 58 to 73. This development aims to reduce reliance on water tankers in these areas.
