Sukhbir Singh Badal (president of the Shiromani Akali Dal) criticized Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for failing to secure a relaxation in moisture content regulations, which has hindered wheat procurement for farmers. Badal visited Khanna mandi, Asia's largest grain market, and stated that farmers had already faced crop damage from rain and hailstorms. He emphasized that while neighboring states like Haryana and Rajasthan swiftly secured the necessary relaxations, Punjab farmers were left to suffer. Badal called on SAD leaders to visit mandis and apply pressure on the government to initiate procurement. He also condemned the AAP government for not arranging the required gunny bags for the current season. Additionally, Badal visited families affected by the recent Mathura boat tragedy, vowing to advocate for mandatory life jackets during boat journeys, particularly for religious pilgrimages.
