On Thursday, a disaster management drill took place in DLF Phase 1 and Signature Tower Underpass in Gurugram, Haryana, to evaluate the city’s emergency preparedness for urban flooding. The exercise was part of a statewide initiative covering 13 districts, aimed at testing response capabilities, incident response systems, and evacuation procedures. During the mock drill, a simulated scenario of heavy rainfall and waterlogging was created, resulting in the rescue of 23 injured individuals. The scenario included eight drowning deaths and seven electrocution fatalities, showcasing the potential hazards during floods. Approximately 75 personnel from various departments, including police and health services, participated, highlighting the collaborative effort needed in emergencies.
