A male employee at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Nashik, Maharashtra, has raised serious allegations against his team leaders, claiming harassment and coercion related to religious practices. The employee reported that he was pressured to wear a skullcap, recite prayers, and adhere to religious customs against his will since joining the company in 2022. He specifically named team leader Tausif Akhtar and colleague Danish Sheikh as perpetrators. The allegations extend to a broader culture of harassment, with another female employee claiming she was isolated and coerced into silence regarding her experiences. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently probing these allegations, which include nine registered cases of misconduct. TCS Chairman N Chandrasekaran has initiated an internal investigation, emphasizing the company's zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct. In response to the growing concerns, the Maharashtra government is contemplating the launch of a helpline to assist victims of workplace harassment, reflecting the urgent need for support in such situations.
