Residents in Tambaram, Chennai, are facing severe discomfort due to frequent power cuts that last between two to five hours each night. With summer temperatures exceeding 40°C, families are struggling to cope with the heat, leading to sleepless nights. Areas like Chitlapakkam, Chromepet, Camp Road, and Ambedkar Colony are particularly affected by these outages and voltage fluctuations, which have been ongoing for over a week. Local resident T. Raghavan reported that his air conditioner's circuit board was damaged due to power fluctuations occurring every 20 minutes. Many residents, including M. Nalini from Ambedkar Colony, expressed frustration over the lack of communication from the electricity board regarding outage schedules. Although a new substation in Hasthinapuram has been proposed to meet rising demand, it has yet to progress beyond the planning stage. The Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited has not provided any comments on the situation.
