In Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) have raised significant concerns regarding safety arrangements ahead of the vote counting scheduled for today. Both parties have submitted letters to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and local police, alleging that their rivals may attempt to disrupt the counting process. DMK's organisational secretary, R S Bharathi, expressed fears that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies might create law and order issues at counting centers. He urged the ECI to take prompt action against any disturbances, criticizing the commission for its perceived lack of neutrality. Meanwhile, AIADMK MP I S Inbadurai claimed that individuals linked to the DMK's IT wing had improperly obtained media accreditation cards meant for journalists, potentially allowing unauthorized access to counting centers. He emphasized the importance of maintaining secrecy and transparency in the election process and called for the verification and cancellation of these cards. In response to these concerns, security measures have been significantly heightened to prevent any untoward incidents during the counting of votes.
