The Bihar Transport Department has issued a directive requiring all vehicle owners to remove any caste-related words, stickers, or phrases from their vehicles by June 5, 2026. This initiative aims to promote equality and curb caste-based discrimination. Violators may face fines of ₹500 under Section 177 and up to ₹2,000 under Section 179 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Following the grace period, traffic police will initiate a state-wide enforcement drive, conducting intensified checks across all roads and intersections. Additionally, Bihar will implement an AI-powered traffic monitoring system, deploying over 1,000 AI-enabled cameras in cities such as Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, and Darbhanga to aid in compliance efforts.
