As the Baramati Assembly bypoll approaches, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) expresses confidence that its candidate, Sunetra Pawar, will achieve a historic victory by over 200,000 votes. This would surpass the record set by her husband, Ajit Pawar, who won by 165,265 votes in the 2019 elections. The NCP's optimism comes despite a disappointing voter turnout of 58.17%, attributed to extreme heat conditions in Maharashtra. Sunetra Pawar, who engaged in limited campaigning, relied heavily on support from her family, particularly her son Jay Pawar, who actively campaigned across the constituency. The Pawar family has maintained a strong electoral presence in Baramati, with Ajit Pawar having never lost an election since he first won the seat in 1991. The NCP believes that the lack of effective campaigning from independent candidates will further bolster Sunetra Pawar's chances of victory.
