The technical education department of Uttar Pradesh, led by Minister Ashish Patel, is drafting a proposal to make at least two industrial visits mandatory for every engineering student. This initiative is aimed at enhancing practical exposure, with civil engineering students expected to visit expressway, tunnel, and dam construction sites, while mechanical and electrical engineering students will explore electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plants. During a review meeting, Patel emphasized that theoretical knowledge alone is insufficient for engineering students. The meeting also addressed the development of AI-based courses in collaboration with institutions like Infosys, aimed at aligning student skills with new technologies. Currently, over 8,000 students have registered on the department's placement portal, which is being enhanced with a dedicated landing page in partnership with Naukri.com to facilitate access to local job opportunities. The officials also discussed the importance of faculty recruitment and student placements, urging polytechnic institutions to expedite their preparations for national rankings.
