The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education announced a drop in the overall Secondary School Certificate (SSC) pass rate to 92.09%, with Mumbai's rate at 94.97%. Notably, the number of students scoring above 90% has also decreased significantly, raising concerns among educators.

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education reported a decline in the overall Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Class 10 examination results, with the stateβs pass percentage falling to 92.09% from 94.1% last year. In Mumbai, the pass rate also decreased to 94.97% from 95.84%. Girls continued to outperform boys, achieving a pass percentage of 94.96%, while boys had 89.56%. The number of students scoring above 90% saw a significant drop, with only 65,279 achieving this milestone compared to 81,809 last year. In Mumbai, the number of high scorers decreased from 17,895 to 13,591. The Konkan division led the state with a pass percentage of 97.62%, while the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division recorded the lowest at 88.41%. Concerns have been raised by educators regarding the decline in scores despite recent improvements in the examination system. To assist students with college admissions stress, the state has appointed 10 special counsellors available daily for support.
