The Municipal Corporation (MC) of Chandigarh has ordered an overhaul of the multilevel parking facility in Sector 17 due to concerns over infrastructure and fire safety. During an inspection led by chief engineer Sanjay Arora, several urgent repairs were identified, including broken pathways, doors, and window panes. Arora emphasized the importance of ensuring that fire-fighting systems are functional and called for the sump to be operational for effective water management. He also highlighted the need for improved lighting and ventilation throughout the facility. To enhance traffic flow, officials were directed to manage entry and exit points better and to install clear signage for users. Additionally, an upgrade of the automatic slip-generating mechanism was requested to increase efficiency. Arora instructed that all abandoned items be cleared within a week to optimize space, and daily reports on parking capacity versus utilization will be instituted.
