Ernakulam district has achieved notable representation in the newly formed United Democratic Front (UDF) government in Kerala, led by V.D. Satheesan. Alongside Satheesan, three Ministers from the district will take office: Roji M. John, Anoop Jacob, and V. E. Abdul Gafoor. John, who secured his third consecutive victory from Angamaly, won by a substantial margin of 37,008 votes against his opponent from the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Anoop Jacob, the only Minister with prior experience, returns to the Cabinet after previously serving from 2011 to 2016. V. E. Abdul Gafoor made headlines by defeating the former Industries Minister in a competitive election, showcasing his political strength. This Cabinet formation marks a significant moment for Ernakulam, enhancing its political influence in the state.
