The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has secured five ministerial positions in the United Democratic Front (UDF) Cabinet in Kerala. The IUML State president, Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal, announced the Ministers-designate, which include prominent leaders such as P.K. Kunhalikutty, P.K. Basheer, V.E. Abdul Gafoor, K.M. Shaji, and N. Shamsudheen. Additionally, IUML leader Parakkal Abdulla, who is from Kozhikode, is set to join the Cabinet after the government has completed two-and-a-half years in office. However, Thangal did not specify which current Minister would step down to accommodate Abdulla, stating that the party will make that decision in the future. Kunhalikutty emphasized that the Chief Minister-designate, V.D. Satheesan, will have the authority to determine the portfolios for the IUML Ministers. He noted that while the IUML has provided recommendations, they have not made any specific claims regarding portfolios, which are ultimately at the discretion of the Chief Minister. The finalized list of Ministers and their portfolios will be submitted to Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlerkar for approval before being published in the public gazette.
