The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has submitted a proposal to the Haryana state government for the upgrade of a vital 9.5-kilometre road stretch linking Basai Chowk to IFFCO Chowk. The project, estimated to cost ₹52 crore (approximately $6.3 million USD), aims to enhance traffic flow and connectivity between the Dwarka Expressway and the Delhi-Jaipur Highway. The proposed work will cover two major segments: from Basai Chowk to Old Railway Road via Basai Road, and from Old Railway Road to IFFCO Chowk through several key intersections. A GMDA official indicated that ₹20 crore will be allocated for the first segment, which includes the construction of stormwater drains and footpaths to mitigate flooding issues that affect nearly 20 residential colonies during monsoon seasons. The remaining ₹32 crore will be dedicated to the second segment's reconstruction. The urgency of this upgrade is heightened by the impending start of the second phase of the Gurugram metro in Old Gurugram, which is expected to further increase traffic in the area.
