A woman named Balesh from Badoli village in Faridabad, Haryana, experienced a harrowing childbirth in the park of a government hospital due to alleged negligence. Arriving at the First Referral Unit hospital around 1:40 AM on Saturday, her family found the main gate locked and could not locate any medical staff for assistance. Despite their desperate attempts to call for help, no one responded, forcing Balesh to give birth with the aid of a relative and a mobile phone torch. After the delivery, which occurred within minutes, both mother and newborn were moved inside the hospital. The incident has sparked outrage, leading the Haryana health department to initiate an inquiry that uncovered significant lapses in night duty arrangements. Two staff members were suspended as a result. Officials acknowledged that the main gate was closed, although another gate was available for emergencies. In response to this incident, the state government announced plans to create a 'war room' focused on maternal and infant mortality to improve emergency care for pregnant women.
