WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature allowing users to exit group chats without causing a notification for all members, which can alleviate the discomfort often associated with leaving unwanted groups. Previously, when a user left a group, all participants would receive a notification, sometimes leading to awkward follow-up questions or requests to rejoin. With the new update, only group admins are notified when a member exits. To leave a group, users need to open the group chat, tap the group name to access the Group Info page, and select 'Exit Group.' They will then have two options: 'Exit Group,' which keeps the chat history, or 'Exit and Delete for Me,' which removes the chat from their list and deletes all associated chat history from their device. However, even though other members won't be notified, the user's name and phone number will still appear in the Past Members list for up to 60 days. To rejoin the group, the user must ask a group admin for an invitation. Additionally, leaving a group that is part of a WhatsApp community may also remove the user from that larger community.
