WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that allows users to set messages to disappear after they have been read. According to reports from WABetaInfo, this feature is currently being tested in the latest beta build on TestFlight and is also available for some users on the Android beta. Users will have the option to choose how long after reading a message it will disappear, with options of 5 minutes, 1 hour, or 12 hours. This adds a new layer of privacy beyond the existing disappearing messages, which automatically vanish after 24 hours by default. The feature can be applied to individual chats or set as a default for all new conversations, helping users manage their privacy and storage more effectively. As of now, the feature is only accessible to a limited number of beta testers, but its presence in both iOS and Android beta versions suggests a broader release may be on the horizon.
