The Neurobiochemistry Laboratory at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi has launched specialised Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) services for the antiepileptic drugs Levetiracetam and Lamotrigine. This initiative aims to enhance precision-based epilepsy care and improve access to affordable neurodiagnostic services for patients across India. The TDM facility will assist clinicians in optimising antiepileptic therapy by accurately monitoring drug levels, adjusting doses, assessing treatment responses, and detecting drug toxicity early. This service particularly benefits economically underprivileged patients who previously relied on costly private laboratories for such tests. Prof. S.B. Gaikwad, Chief of the Neurosciences Centre, emphasised that these advanced diagnostic services significantly strengthen patient care. The tests require only a small blood sample and results will be accessible through the e-Hospital portal. AIIMS is committed to providing accessible and cutting-edge healthcare, promoting precision medicine for neurological disorders.
