An Iranian very large crude carrier (VLCC), which is under US sanctions, successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz and reached Iranian shores, according to the Iranian consulate in Mumbai. The tanker, capable of carrying up to 2 million barrels of crude oil, reportedly kept its tracking system on throughout its journey, defying US sanctions and threats. The United States has declared a blockade on any vessels originating from Iranian ports, aiming to interdict all ships that have paid tolls to Iran. The US Central Command claims that this blockade has effectively halted 90 percent of Iran's maritime trade. Despite these measures, data from maritime tracking firm Kpler revealed that at least two other ships also passed through the Strait of Hormuz shortly after the blockade was implemented, indicating ongoing maritime activity in the region.
