Khan, who worked for a private firm in Dombivali, went missing on April 3 while traveling to Dadar, Mumbai, to collect a work-related payment. His father reported his disappearance to the police, prompting an investigation that traced Khan's last known location to Vasai, where he was seen with Mehjabin. On April 5, Khan's decomposed body was found stuffed in a drum at Virar Phata along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway in Palghar district. The investigation revealed that Mehjabin had loaned Khan money and sought to extort him for repayment.
