In Pune, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a significant operation, seizing dairy products valued at ₹47.36 lakh across 17 locations. This initiative, part of the 'Safe Food, Safe Drug, Safe Maharashtra' campaign led by FDA commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, targeted establishments in areas such as Somwar Peth, Budhwar Peth, and Hadapsar. During the raids, officials discovered stocks of khoya (13,127 kg), paneer (2,806 kg), cheese analogue (138 kg), and ghee (960 kg) that were either unlabeled or stored in unhygienic conditions. A total of 35 samples were collected for laboratory testing to determine the presence of adulteration. Digambar Bhogawade, joint commissioner of the FDA Pune division, indicated that legal proceedings would be initiated against violators of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, once laboratory results are received. He emphasized the FDA's commitment to protecting consumer health and ensuring the quality of food products in the market, with ongoing enforcement actions planned against those selling substandard items.
