Target has announced a voluntary recall of certain Up & Up branded baby wipes due to potential contamination with bacteria that can lead to serious and possibly life-threatening infections. The recall includes both Fragrance-Free and Fresh Cucumber Scented varieties, following customer complaints and FDA testing that revealed traces of Burkholderia cepacia complex and Burkholderia gladioi. Reports from customers indicated symptoms such as skin irritation, eye irritation, and infections after using the wipes, which are commonly used on newborns and young children. The FDA notice warns that these infections could lead to severe conditions like sepsis or pneumonia, especially in immunocompromised individuals. Customers are urged to stop using the affected products immediately and return them to any Target store for a full refund. The recalled wipes were sold nationwide and online, and the investigation into the contamination is ongoing, with Target coordinating with the manufacturer, Sapro Temizlik Urunleri.
