Emily Casey, a 34-year-old mother of five from Wirral, is currently in a coma in a hospital in Gran Canaria after contracting sepsis during a family holiday. The ordeal began just three days into their trip when Emily experienced breathing difficulties and was rushed to the hospital. Initially, doctors suspected a blood clot due to her recent recovery from pneumonia, but subsequent scans revealed that the pneumonia had returned and fluid had accumulated in one of her lungs. After being placed on life support, Emily's condition deteriorated further, leading to the diagnosis of sepsis. Her husband, Jamie Casey, has been managing childcare for their five children while also spending time at Emily's bedside. The family is now appealing for help to raise £50,000 for a medical flight back to the UK, as they desperately want to bring Emily home to her children, who range in age from one to thirteen.
