The Delhi government has reinstated the 'No PUC, No Fuel' rule, effective Thursday, to combat air pollution in the capital. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the importance of this decision as a crucial step towards enforcing anti-pollution norms. The rule applies to all vehicles, including petrol, diesel, CNG, and LPG, and specifically targets older vehicles that cannot obtain valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates—petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years. The initiative, initially introduced on October 25, 2025, faced enforcement challenges, but authorities are now committed to stricter compliance. All petrol pumps and gas outlets in Delhi are instructed to supply fuel only to vehicles with valid PUC certificates. This aligns with the revised Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), which allows for penalties against violators. Multiple government agencies will oversee the implementation, ensuring accountability and effective monitoring to improve air quality in the city.
