Effective May 14, 2023, Mother Dairy and Amul have increased milk prices by ₹1 to ₹5 per packet across various products. For Amul, the new prices include Taaza milk at ₹29 for 500 ml (up from ₹28) and Gold milk at ₹35 for 500 ml (up from ₹34). Mother Dairy raised prices for bulk vended milk from ₹56 to ₹58 and full cream milk from ₹70 to ₹72. The companies attribute these hikes to rising input costs, particularly the increased procurement prices for farmers and the impact of the ongoing Iran-US conflict on global crude oil prices, which has further strained the Indian economy. Despite these price increases, petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged since 2022, adding to the inflationary pressures faced by consumers.
