Demand for diesel in India is shifting from bulk buyers to retail outlets operated by government oil companies, as stated by Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. She emphasized that India has adequate supplies of petrol, diesel, LPG, and natural gas despite the impacts of global geopolitical tensions on imports. The government is actively working to alleviate the burden on citizens through various measures. Recently, LPG production has been increased to meet rising demand, with around 1.34 crore LPG cylinders delivered and commercial LPG sales reaching 23,588 tonnes. Additionally, 7.99 lakh new customers have registered for natural gas. To ensure fair distribution, the government has conducted 500 raids, issued 111 show cause notices, and suspended one distributor for irregularities. Furthermore, sources from Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) confirmed that India remains surplus in petroleum products, with stable crude oil imports from Russia continuing despite geopolitical tensions.
