The Jharkhand CID's Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by Inspector General Pankaj Kamboj, has arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashok Bhandari for his role in the illegal withdrawal of ₹1.11 crore from the Bokaro treasury, attributed to travel allowance (TA) bills since 2020. Bhandari, who worked in the accounts section of the Bokaro Superintendent of Police (SP) office, allegedly conspired to withdraw these funds illegally. The investigation has also expanded to include a separate case involving ₹42 lakh illegally withdrawn from the Chaibasa treasury, with a total of ₹15.98 crore identified as suspicious withdrawals from the Bokaro treasury since 2017. This includes ₹2.70 crore withdrawn without proper authorization, highlighting significant data manipulation. The SIT has arrested multiple individuals, including home guard Satish Kumar Singh and constable Dev Narayan Murmu, as the investigation continues into these financial irregularities.
