During a rally in Haldia, Purba Medinipur district, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asserted that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will win the upcoming assembly elections, marking a fourth consecutive term in power. She emphasized that the people of West Bengal do not support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and called for all opposition parties to unite to defeat the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre. Banerjee referred to former TMC member Suvendu Adhikari as a 'gaddar' (betrayer) and accused the BJP of manipulating votes and using tactics to influence the elections. She also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for claiming to be the BJP candidate in all 294 assembly seats, stating that he must resign as Prime Minister for that to be feasible. The elections are set for April 23 and April 29, with results to be announced on May 4.
