Air raid blackout mock drills are set for April 23 and 24 in Jammu and Kashmir, specifically in Anantnag and Kupwara districts. The Kupwara drill will take place on April 24 at 3:30 PM, with a blackout exercise from 8:00 PM to 8:10 PM. Anantnag's drill is scheduled for April 23. The exercises aim to familiarize citizens with emergency response protocols and assess the readiness of both the public and administration. District magistrate Shrikant Balasaheb Suse emphasized the importance of public cooperation for the success of the drills, which are intended to enhance safety and preparedness in the region. Residents are advised to switch off all lights and draw curtains during the drills to minimize light emissions. This initiative follows the first anniversary of the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people and led to military operations against Pakistan.
