Ludhiana, Punjab, has become the third city in the state to adopt the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), following Jalandhar and Mohali. The initiative was inaugurated by Gaurav Yadav, the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, who highlighted the installation of 1,700 high-resolution cameras at 259 locations to enhance the city's surveillance capabilities. The ITMS, now operational at 46 locations, is equipped to automatically detect nine types of traffic violations, including red light violations and overspeeding. This system is part of the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), which integrates various police units to ensure a swift response to emergencies, reducing police response times from 15 minutes to 7-8 minutes. Additionally, a dedicated Green Corridor has been established to facilitate the rapid movement of organ transplant teams and emergency vehicles. In his address, DGP Yadav urged the youth to avoid falling prey to organized crime and emphasized the Punjab Police's commitment to tackling such issues effectively.
