An investigation into an illegal kidney transplant case linked to Sukh Seva Multi-Specialty Hospital in Kharar, Punjab, India, has uncovered that the Nepalese donor, Ashish Thaman, was paid ₹7 lakh (approximately $8,400 USD) for the procedure. The recipient, Varinderpal from Delhi, is currently under medical observation and will be formally arrested once declared fit by medical authorities. The probe has revealed that the absconding surgeon arranged for the donor's travel from Nepal to Punjab, raising questions about the involvement of intermediaries in this illegal transaction. Following a raid on the hospital, which has since been sealed, three individuals have already been arrested in connection with the case. Investigators are scrutinizing financial transactions and travel arrangements while also verifying medical approvals and identity documents to determine if proper procedures were adhered to.
