The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the alleged paper leak of the NEET-UG 2026 examination, based on a written complaint from the higher education department of India's Ministry of Education. The FIR includes serious charges such as criminal conspiracy, cheating, and violations under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Public Examination Prevention of Unfair Means Act 2024. To conduct a thorough investigation, the CBI has formed special teams and dispatched them to various locations. Allegations surfaced regarding unauthorized circulation of examination documents prior to the exam, raising concerns about the integrity of the examination process. The CBI is investigating all angles, including potential involvement of individuals with a history of paper leak offenses. This case follows a similar investigation into the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak, where the CBI filed five charge sheets against 45 individuals, although the trial has yet to commence. The Supreme Court previously declined to order a re-test for NEET-UG 2024, stating there was no evidence of widespread systemic breaches.
