The National Testing Agency (NTA) is facing severe criticism after the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 exam due to allegations of a paper leak, where 120 out of 420 question papers were reportedly in circulation before the exam. This incident marks a troubling continuation of issues since a similar paper leak scandal in 2024, which led to the establishment of a high-level panel to reform the agency's processes. Despite claims of conducting the May 3 exam under strict security protocols, the NTA's handling of the situation has raised questions about its efficiency and management. The agency has also faced scrutiny for errors in other exams, including the JEE Main, where 19 corrections were made to the Chemistry answer key. The frequent changes in leadership at NTA, with three different directors in under two years, have contributed to a perception of instability.
