Prateek Yadav, the stepbrother of Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the Samajwadi Party, died on Wednesday in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, at the age of 38. He was brought to the Civil Hospital around 6 am, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death has not yet been determined, and his body has been sent to King George’s Medical University for a postmortem examination. Earlier this year, on April 30, Prateek was admitted to a private hospital in critical condition but reportedly improved after three days and left without formal discharge. Prateek was the son of the late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and Sadhana Gupta. He was involved in fitness and real estate businesses, owning a gym named “The Fitness Planet” and running an animal welfare organization called “Jeev Ashray.” His wife, Aparna Yadav, who is currently in Assam, is the vice-chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission. Following the news of his death, she returned to Lucknow. Prateek had publicly announced a separation from Aparna earlier this year but reconciled shortly after. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences, stating that Prateek's sudden demise is extremely saddening. The Samajwadi Party also paid tribute, mourning his loss.
