C. Joseph Vijay, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, successfully passed a crucial floor test in the state assembly, garnering the support of 144 MLAs in a 234-member assembly. The vote of confidence was mandated by Governor RV Arlekar to be held by May 13. DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin criticized the government during the proceedings and announced his party's decision to abstain from voting, citing concerns over the government's longevity. Supporters of Vijay, including the lone MLA from the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AAMK), expressed confidence in his leadership, emphasizing the need for political stability in the state.
