On Thursday, eight people lost their lives and two others were injured when a utility pickup vehicle fell into a gorge in the Chamba area of Tehri district, Uttarakhand. The victims, residents of Thyoldhar village in Ghansali, were returning home after performing last rites in Haridwar. The driver reportedly lost control of the Bolero Camper, which was carrying approximately 10 passengers. Emergency teams, including the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police, and fire service personnel, have successfully recovered the bodies and rescued two individuals from the wreckage. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his sorrow over the incident and instructed local authorities to ensure prompt medical treatment for the injured. The accident underscores the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures in the region.
