On Thursday, a tragic accident occurred in Tehri Garhwal district, Uttarakhand, where a vehicle carrying approximately 10 passengers lost control and plunged nearly 300 meters into a gorge near Nail village on the Chamba-Koti motor road. The incident resulted in the deaths of eight individuals and left two others injured. The passengers, all residents of Ghansali, were returning home after performing funeral rites in Rishikesh. Upon learning of the accident, teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police, and health department were dispatched to the site to conduct rescue operations. District officials, including District Magistrate Nitika Khandelwal and Tehri MLA Kishore Upadhyay, oversaw the relief efforts. The injured individuals are currently being treated at the district hospital in Baurari and are reported to be out of danger.
