The Maharashtra government, led by Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar, has initiated the formation of a three-member expert committee to analyze incentive-driven policies for the film industry. The committee's report, due in three months, will focus on subsidies and support systems to enhance Maharashtra's appeal as a filming destination. During a meeting with film producers, Shelar emphasized the need to assess incentives offered by other Indian states and international locations. Discussions also addressed challenges related to shooting infrastructure and necessary policy reforms. The government is working on developing new filming hubs in Kolhapur, Nagpur, and Nashik, with land acquisition for new film cities already completed. Additionally, a single-window clearance system for production permissions is being established to streamline the approval process. The government is also modernizing ND Studio and introducing short-term courses at Film City for skill development in the film sector.
