A fire broke out on the ninth floor of Gaur Green Avenue in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, on Wednesday, damaging at least eight flats and affecting several others. In response, District Magistrate Ravinder Kumar Mandar established a committee to investigate the incident and report within three days. The committee comprises officials from various departments, including the fire department and the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA). Firefighters faced challenges such as blocked access due to parked cars and a nearby park, which delayed efforts to control the blaze for over two-and-a-half hours. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and at least 10 people were rescued. The committee will also assess whether there were any unauthorized alterations to the building's approved plans. GDA officials indicated that the high-rise, which contains 446 flats, received its completion certificate in 2009. The investigation aims to ensure that all fire safety equipment in high-rises is functional and to address any structural safety concerns.
