In a shocking incident in the Indira Vihar area of Delhi, a 26-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly attacking her 21-year-old neighbor with acid just days before the victim's wedding on April 19. The police reported that the victim, who is a postgraduate student of political science at Indira Gandhi National Open University, sustained severe facial burns and is currently struggling with her vision. The attack occurred after the accused, who had been in a relationship with the victim's fiancé, visited the victim's home under the pretense of friendship. During a henna application session, she allegedly threw the acid-like liquid on the victim's face, causing her to cry out in pain. Neighbors quickly intervened and apprehended the attacker. The police have registered a case under Section 124(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to causing grievous hurt by acid. Investigations are ongoing.
