Nationwide Building Society is encouraging its members to check their bank accounts as over four million households are expected to receive a £100 bonus next month under the 'Fairer Share' initiative. The total payout amounts to £440 million, which will be deposited directly into eligible members' current accounts between June 10 and the end of the month. To qualify, customers must have an active Nationwide current account and either a qualifying savings account or mortgage as of March 31, 2026. This initiative marks the fourth consecutive year that Nationwide has returned funds to its members, with a total of £1.5 billion distributed since 2023. Nationwide's chief executive, Dame Debbie Crosbie, highlighted the society's growth in personal banking as a reason for this year's payout. However, customers of Clydesdale Bank and Virgin Money will miss out on this bonus, although recent switchers from Virgin Money may become eligible for future payments. Nationwide warns that while bonuses are currently being issued, they are not guaranteed every year.
