Munusamy was defeated by DMK's P.S. Srinivasan, who secured 74,691 votes, winning by 138 votes. Conversely, Thalavai Sundaram of AIADMK won in Kanniyakumari by 214 votes, polling 74,831 votes against his DMK rival. Additionally, R. Abishek of TVK emerged victorious in Polur, defeating P.
