Thomas Allen Hicks, a 68-year-old man from Polk County, Florida, was arrested as part of 'Operation Child Protector VIII,' an undercover investigation aimed at identifying child predators. The operation, conducted by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and various law enforcement agencies, resulted in the arrest of 19 individuals. Hicks, known for his role as Santa Claus at local Christmas events, responded to an advertisement on a prostitution site, offering his fictitious 15-year-old daughter for sexual acts. Sheriff Grady Judd emphasized that Hicks is not representative of the real Santa Claus, stating, 'Thousands of children have sat on this guy’s lap thinking he was Santa Claus when, in fact, he was a child sex predator.' Following his arrest, Hicks admitted to seeking out prostitutes online and acknowledged that he knew the ad was for an underage girl. He faces serious charges, including human trafficking and use of a computer to seduce a child. Hicks has been terminated from his position at Tri-County Human Services, where he worked as a marketing manager, and the organization supports the ongoing investigation.
